If your Spanish course in Buenos Aires lasts less than 90 days, you can usually enter Argentina as a tourist, as long as your nationality allows visa-free entry. Here is the list, so you can see in a moment whether that applies to you.
It is based on the official table of the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones (DNM), Argentina’s immigration authority, and applies to ordinary passports.
Countries whose citizens do not need a tourist visa
The Americas: all countries except Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Europe: all countries except Albania, Kosovo and Moldova.
Rest of the world not needing tourist visa either:
- Middle East and Caucasus: Armenia, Georgia, Israel, Qatar, Turkey, United Arab Emirates
- Asia: Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand
- Oceania: Australia, Fiji, New Zealand
- Africa: South Africa
What if my nationality is not on the list?
Then you need a visa to enter Argentina, even for a short course. You apply for it at the Argentine consulate where you live, before you travel. As a RENURE-registered school, Academia Buenos Aires can issue your enrollment confirmation and start the student visa process with the immigration authorities. Plan ahead, because the process can take several weeks.
Good to know
- Some US visa holders are exempt. Citizens of China, India and the Dominican Republic who hold a valid US visa or green card can enter Argentina as tourists without an Argentine visa.
- Staying longer than 90 days? Then you will probably need a student visa, whatever your nationality.
- Rules change. Always check the official DNM list before you travel: migraciones.gov.ar
